It's fun listening the children acquire language. There are still times when Doug and I can hear the same sentence from Lucas but interpret it to mean completely different things. Here are a few of my favorites, can you guess them?

Lek-ow-tricity
Trash-tran
nutredients
come-stir-bowl
Steprize!
Inter-sting

Then there are all those pesky words that just don't follow the rules.

Lucas: "Daddy, I have a very important new."
Daddy: "Do you mean news?
Lucas: "No Daddy, new. There's only one."

Or taking a small amount of suds in the bathtub "Mommy, see my sud?"

I think I'll miss them when he outgrows it.

Pull-up

Timmy managed to go from sitting to standing all by himself. I'm not sure how exactly he did it, I just looked up and there he was, with this very proud grin on his face (and a death grip on the couch). Still working on crawling, but he can squirm his way around his play area pretty well, usually backward. Take your time, Timmy! Don't grow up too fast :) Meanwhile, big brother Lucas is getting very adept at climbing on toys and furniture to get at things intentionally placed out of his reach (like the camera). Sigh. I just hope his guardian angel can help keep him from breaking his neck while he's doing it.

Pumpkin painting

Halloween fun

We made these as a snack for playgroup, but then had to stay home because of a sore throat. They are supposed to be a bunch of pumpkins. 

Watering in the rain

Sometimes, not even a raincoat helps. 

Solo duet

Lucas is helping Timmy play the piano. Timmy is more interested in the camera. 

Dress-up

Lucas and Timmy enjoyed going to the dress-up party at St. Albert's. It was the first time they'd been out of the house (except Grandpa's house, the doctor's office, and the grocery store) for more than a week due to illness. That's why I haven't blogged in a while, so now I'm playing catch-up. 

Bedtime story

Timmy loves books, but it looks like this one put him to sleep. 

Candy apples

Lucas and I had fun making candy apples. Timmy really enjoyed gumming on what was left of my apple.

Lucas showing me his "precious, precious bubbles" (this was after he dumped most of a bottle of Bath and Body Works soap into the tub...at least it made the room smell nice for a few days)

After swimming Timmy needed a nap. If he's tired enough he can fall asleep anywhere!

Timmy's favorite part of the picnic was playing in the water. They had a sandy beach area and a very shallow swimming area. 

Company picnic

My dad's company had their annual picnic about a week ago at city park. My dad was unable to attend (he was with Doug at a conference), but they wanted me to bring the kids anyway. Lucas had fun playing with his friends in the Tinney family (behind him) and taking swings at the star.

Friday the 13th

I'm not normally superstitous, but today has had it's moments. My grandmother (pictures here strawberry picking with us this past spring) passed away this morning. Her birthday is Oct. 31st, she was almost 88. And I got my first ever speeding ticket. But today has had it's good points too. Lucas had a great time back at Sweetberry Farm (pictured above) playing with the pumpkins, the hay maze, and feeding the animals.

Yuck!

Lucas is actually a very good eater, he's just tired from playing in the dirt.

Boy plus dirt...

...equals time to do laundry. Lucas had fun helping Meemaw spread the load of dirt (her anniversary present from grandpa). Timmy really wanted to play too, but between the ants and his tendancy to put everything in his mouth, he wasn't allowed.
