Kyle & Erin Bryson hosted a sweet "Iron Chef" party Saturday evening. There were 22 people attending who were all charged with making a dish from a tuber or corm. Out of a panoply of dishes including sweet potato waffles, sweet potato muffins, bacon-wrapped water chestnuts, tomato & potato curry, gnocchi, and Teresa's tapioca pudding, my Parmentier Potatoes, based on this recipe took first prize.
I modified it slightly, using a little bit more salt and herbs, and feta cheese instead of goat cheese - it turned out great!
Lucas is enjoying the prize I won - Darth Tater!

First Haircut
Lucas had his first professional haircut on Sunday, thankfully he was very cooperative. He now looks quite a bit older, and he's been acting more independent too. He's invented his own "no" song. God, please grant me plenty of patience!

This pic is from a weekend getaway up at Lake Buchanan last fall. It's hard to tell, but behind my head, in front of the waterfall is an outcropping of rock that was apparently a ceremonial site for the Indians who used to live in these parts (obviously well before the river was dammed to make the lake..)
