Bats and Cats

Lucas and I attended the Bats and Cats Ball at the Children's Museum. He likes the balloon artist. He moved to fast to get many other pictures.

Horse crazy

We watched Cousin Jamie's last horseback riding lesson last week. She even let the boys help muck out the tacking-up stall.

Lucas and one of his good friends Isaac, aka "Boomer Boys." Celebrating almost 5 years of friendship.

I've been inspired by the photographic exploits of a friend and decided to try for some interesting candid (non- fake smile) expressions.

Backyard fun...

...until someone forgets to put the lid on and a cat visits.

Making laundry soap

Lucas is making some laundry detergent from Irish Spring, Borax, washing soda, and water. It works pretty well. I got the idea from a friend

Fall fun

pumpkin patch

We went to a pumpkin patch in Marble Falls yesterday with Aunt Melanie and cousin Jamie. It was very crowded by the time we left, but it wasn't bad early in the morning. It was a beautiful day, cool and sunny... almost too sunny to take good pictures, but we tried.

Texas Disposal Systems Tour

We visited an amazing landfill today. You could hardly tell it was a landfill, it felt more like a park filled with exotic wildlife. There were many informational presentations, which Lucas and his friend paid little attention to, but we did enjoy the bus tour and the playground. It was a beautiful day to be outside.

T-Ball take two

Lucas has now had two T-ball games, with another scheduled for tonight. His team has not yet had a practice. They still have a lot to learn, but it makes the games very amusing to watch. Timmy likes the green chips.

Lucas developed a two-way marble run using various toys about the house. It's given us hours of enjoyment.

Math lesson

Lucas has decided to start giving Timmy math lessons. He started with the hundreds chart, but then decided to start at the begining by tracing the numbers one through ten. It was too cute! One of the things I love about homeschooling is how much time it gives us together.

Dinoland at Botanical Gardens

We really enjoyed our trip to the Zilker Botanical Gardens almost two weeks ago. They have a visiting exhibit about dinosaurs with a really neat section of trail (near the Rose Garden) called the "Walk Through Time." It gives you some perspective about how short a time humanity has been on earth. We all love the Oriental Garden too, especially the stepping stones.
